The recent low pressures experienced in Oman have affected the fishing sector more. The cold weather and rain experienced in Oman have a negative effect on those who go fishing. Fishermen are reluctant to go out to sea because of this weather. The sea is getting rough in many parts. There is a ban on going to the sea in many places. Due to these reasons fishing has decreased.
Many fishes that were readily available are scarce in the market. When the availability of fish including king fish decreases, the government also implements export restrictions for such fish. Oman has restrictions on catching certain species of juvenile fish.
