(24 News) Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif has said that climate change has affected Pakistan a lot.
Addressing a discussion on the topic of elimination of discrimination in the health sector at the World Economic Forum, the Prime Minister said that in 2003, when I was in Saudi Arabia, I got cancer, I was taken to New York and I was operated on. Then I had to pay thousands of dollars for treatment, at that time I thought how many people in my country are able to get such treatment? .
The Prime Minister said that then I came to Pakistan and was elected Chief Minister of Punjab, then we built hospitals for kidney, liver and cancer in Punjab, many people of our country cannot afford expensive treatment.
He said that today’s biggest problem is global inequality, Covid has further highlighted it, besides climate change has completely changed the map of the planet.

He said that Pakistan is one of the top countries affected by climate change, the 2022 floods destroyed Pakistan and we had to spend billions of rupees to rehabilitate people. He said that efforts are on to completely eliminate polio in the country.
