(Quebec) Prime Minister François Legault will attend the United Nations climate conference, COP26, to be held in November in Glasgow, Scotland.

He made the announcement on Wednesday during a press briefing.

Quebec is expected to take the opportunity to confirm its intention to end the exploration and exploitation of hydrocarbons. It will then have to pay compensation to companies that hold permits.

The government has already done this in the case of Anticosti Island, where oil and gas exploitation has been banned since 2017.
