Climate protection: wind turbine vortex around greens and the red kite – domestic politics

by time news

Green leader Robert Habeck’s ministry is putting pressure on the energy transition. A raptor worth protecting – the red kite – is apparently in the way.

In order to promote the expansion of wind turbines, Habeck’s Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection wants to fight for more relaxed nature conservation rules in the EU. Habeck’s new Green State Secretary Sven Giegold has now announced this. He complained to the RND: “As soon as a red kite appears in a planning area, there can in principle no longer be built there.”

According to experts, Germany has a “special responsibility” for the red kite (call: a long drawn-out “Wiieeh”), since over 50% of the world’s population live here. Problem: The birds often collide with the rotors of wind turbines.

The Ministry of the Environment, led by the Green Steffi Lemke, is already at a distance from Giegold.

▶ ︎ State Secretary Stefan Tidow (Greens) on BILD: “Strong nature conservation and the expansion of renewables are not in contradiction. We need both more than ever and will find good solutions. That is why this government took office. ”Hamburg’s CDU regional chief Christof Ploß told BILD:“ The green hypocrisy hits hard on the reality of everyday government. ”Habeck himself left a BILD request unanswered.
