Closing account: The Shin Bet arrested a resident of Acre who was involved in the lynching of an Israeli citizen in May 2021

It was allowed to be published that in a joint operation of the General Security Service and the Israel Police, Assi Mahmoud Saleh Hourani, 50 years old, a resident of Acre, was arrested for questioning in recent weeks on suspicion of his involvement in the lynching that took place in Mor Janashvili on 12.05.2021 in the city of Acre.

It will be mentioned that Mor Janashvili was attacked by an enraged mob, first, by throwing stones and objects at his car while he was driving, while they continued to beat him vigorously using clubs and iron rods and set his car on fire. As a result of the acts, the victim lost consciousness, was taken to the hospital while moderately injured, where he was hospitalized for a considerable period of time and even required prolonged rehabilitation.

These days, the investigation of Assi Mahmoud Saleh Hourani, who took an active part in the lynching, has been completed by the Shin Bet and the central unit (YMR) in the coastal district. Today, on January 18, 2023, the North District Attorney’s Office (criminal) submitted an indictment to the District Court in Haifa attributing to him a series of serious crimes, including crimes that were committed with a nationalist motive, under the circumstances of an act of terrorism.

This arrest and indictment is the product of ongoing activity by the General Security Service, which resulted in a series of indictments filed against seven others involved in the lynching that took place in Mor Janashvili, against whom indictments were filed for similar serious offenses.
