Closing of the 44th session of the ICESCO Executive Council in Jeddah, with the participation of Morocco

Morocco was represented at this meeting by a delegation led by the Secretary General of the National Commission for Education, Science and Culture, Jamal Eddine El-Aloua, who praised, in his speech at the opening ceremony, the strong ties of cooperation that ICESCO maintains with the various institutions, government departments and civil society organizations in the Kingdom.

He also welcomed the positive and constructive interaction of the Organization with the various initiatives of the Moroccan Commission for Education, Science and Culture, reiterating the strong commitment of the Kingdom, under the leadership of HM King Mohammed VI, to contribute to the consolidation of joint Arab-Islamic action.

The working sessions held within the framework of this meeting were mainly devoted to the examination of the programs and projects launched this year by ICESCO and its action plan for next year, as well as the documents and reports submitted by the general administration of the Organization.

The report on the activities of the Organization for the year 2023, the financial report for the financial year 2022, the draft budget and action plan for the years 2024-2025 and the report on the contributions of Member States for the year 2022 were thus adopted.

The meeting was also marked by the screening of a video on “ICESCO’s journey with ISO”, which traces the path taken by the Organization to obtain International Standards (ISO) accreditation in resource, quality and risk management.

In addition, the Secretary General of the Saudi National Commission for Education, Science and Culture presented his country’s request to host the 15th Session of the ICESCO General Conference, scheduled for 2025.

On this occasion, he announced the Saudi government’s decision to grant 200 scholarships in Saudi universities for deserving students from Islamic countries, starting in 2025.
