Closure of the Allenby Bridge from both the Jordanian and Israeli sides until further notice!

Jordan announced, on Monday morning, the closure of King Hussein Bridge, known as the “Allenby Bridge,” to the movement of departing and arriving passengers and cargo until further notice.

The media spokesman for the Jordanian Public Security Directorate confirmed on Sunday evening that King Hussein Bridge will be opened to traffic on Monday at 10:00 a.m., while remaining closed to freight traffic.

For its part, Israel tightened the siege on the Palestinians yesterday by announcing the closure of the Allenby Bridge (known in Jordan as King Hussein Bridge) connecting the West Bank and Jordan, which was the last outlet for Palestinians, especially residents of the West Bank, to cross outside their country.

Israel also decided to close two other land crossings with Jordan: Sheikh Hussein in the north, and Wadi Araba in the south.

Thousands of Palestinians were seen returning in buses to the Palestinian “Karameh Crossing” (the bridge leading to the Jordanian-Israeli crossing) in Jericho in the West Bank after they were prevented from traveling, and on the Jordanian side of the crossing, thousands more were crowded and unable to return to the West Bank.

In his first comment on the attack, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that “without the sword, there is no life in the Middle East,” accusing Iran of besieging Israel with a “bloody ideology.”

Jordan announced, on Sunday evening, the results of the initial investigations into the shooting incident at the King Hussein Bridge (Allenby Bridge) on the border with the occupied West Bank, which resulted in the killing of 3 Israelis.

The Jordanian Ministry of Interior said that investigations into the incident confirmed that “the shooter is a Jordanian citizen named Maher Diab Hussein Al-Jazi, a resident of the Al-Hussainiya area in Ma’an Governorate.”
