The opening of the exhibition “Culture of Clothing and Jewelry Art of Turkic Peoples” took place at the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum in Baku, Day.Az reports.

The exhibition dedicated to the Nowruz holiday and the 15th anniversary of its inclusion in the UNESCO Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity was organized jointly by the International Foundation for Turkic Culture and Heritage, the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan and the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum.

Acting Director of the Carpet Museum, Doctor of Philosophy in the field of art history Mira Mamedkhanova, Advisor to the Minister of Culture, Honored Artist Jahangir Selimkhanov, President of the International Foundation for Turkic Culture and Heritage Aktoty Raimkulova, collector of national costumes of the peoples of Central Asia Virginia Morgan-Hayat and public figure Hasan Hasanov in their speeches they emphasized the importance of this exhibition.

They noted that the exhibits demonstrate the rich heritage of the Turkic peoples in the field of national costume and jewelry.

The team from the Children and Youth Development Center No. 3 performed at the event and presented dances of the Turkic peoples.

The exhibition included traditional women’s costumes and jewelry of the peoples of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Hungary, Uzbekistan, Turkey and Turkmenistan. The material from which these artistic samples are made, their ornaments create in the viewer a rich impression of the unique national characteristics, traditions, and way of life of the Turkic peoples.

The exhibition features exhibits from the collections of the Azerbaijan National Carpet Museum, the International Foundation for Turkic Culture and Heritage, the Association of Hungarian Folk Crafts and the private collector Virginia Morgan-Hyatt.

It should be noted that as part of the exhibition, which will last until March 31, a master class and lecture will be held.
