The National Electoral Council (CNE) responded to the statements of the President of the Republic, reaffirming the legitimacy of its actions and its strict adherence to constitutional and legal provisions.

In its clarification addressed to the public, the CNE emphasized that All their actions are framed within the powers granted to them by the Constitution of ColombiaHe also stressed that his authority has been supported by recent decisions of the Constitutional Court and the Council of State, which reaffirms its unquestionable nature.

The statement also referred to the administrative investigation mentioned by the President, clarifying that there is no legal possibility that calls into question the jurisdiction presidential statement, stressing that any suggestion to the contrary ignores the Colombian legal framework.

The CNE concluded its statement by requesting that institutional stability and the security of the entity’s officials be guaranteed, reaffirming its commitment to the country’s constitutional order.

If the CNE concludes that the limits were violated, Congress would have to vote on a possible dismissal from office, something that has never happened in Colombia.

In response to the CNE’s statements, the head of state spoke out again through his X account: “Those who stripped me of my immunity were three magistrates who broke the constitutional rulings on presidential immunity and conflict of jurisdiction. Now the CNE with the political majority of those we defeated in the elections will make an unconstitutional judgment of the president, and the speaker is an accused friend of Uribe.”

“Today, Maritza Martínez (president of the CNE) is saying that she should be allowed to hold the CNE meeting on Monday in a military garrison. I am the commander of the Military Forces and it is my job to tell them to take care of it. But then, what fear do they have of the people to make the illegitimate decision they want to make?” added Petro.
