Doosan Bears coach Lee Seung-yeop (48) praised Choi Jeong (37, SSG Landers), who is about to break his record for the most home runs in his KBO career.
Manager Lee met with reporters ahead of the 2024 Shinhan Bank SOL Bank KBO League game against SSG to be held at SSG Landers Field in Incheon on the 2nd and said, “Choi Jeong has a very beautiful swing as a right-handed hitter. “It has become a given that he will become the record holder for the most home runs in our country,” he said.
The current record for the most home runs in the KBO is Manager Seung-yeop Lee’s 467 home runs. He is followed by Choi Jeong (462).
Choi Jeong was hitting 458 before the start of this season, and is one step closer to breaking the record by hitting 4 home runs in 8 games since the start of the season.
Coach Lee praised him, saying, “It’s amazing that he’s been playing consistently without getting injured, but he’s also setting records, so even though he’s a junior, I respect him.” He also said, “It’s very good.”
He continued, “Choi Jeong is not as big as Lee Dae-ho, but he has a beautiful swing. “He is a player who knows how to transfer power to the bat well,” he added.
Some say that Coach Lee’s record is more valuable because Choi Jeong-eun has been playing in the KBO for 20 years and Coach Lee has played in the KBO for 15 seasons, excluding the seasons he played overseas (2004-2011).
However, Coach Lee said, “When we talk about a specific record, we don’t talk about how many seasons it was set. “In baseball, records speak for themselves,” he said, praising his junior Choi Jeong.

Currently, the 3rd place player with the most home runs in his career is Park Byeong-ho (KT Wiz), who hit 380, and the gap with Choi Jeong is wide.
