CobosMika dances from light to darkness with “Inanna”

by time news

The dance company CobosMika and the composer Santiso present the show Inanna this Friday at the Teatre Municipal de Palafrugell. About twenty Catalan, French and Swiss dancers propose a journey from light to darkness to talk about how fears and shadows are also part of our lives. The dance piece is inspired by the myth of the descent into the underworld of Inanna, the Sumerian goddess of libido and war.

Directed and choreographed by Peter Mika, the Palamos company combines dance with Inanna with improvisation and elements of martial arts and physical theater to the beat of Santiso’s music.

The musician and composer, who has lived in the Empordà for many years, has created eighteen instrumental compositions that have been included in an album also entitled Inanna.

Flirting with various styles, the musical creations seek to address the two great antagonistic concepts of the piece: light, conveying joy and positivity, and darkness, to approach horror, mystery, intrigue or suspense.

During the evening in Palafrugell, the piece The square, by Seeds company, CobosMika’s educational project aimed at young dancers from all over the world to train as performers, will also be premiered.
