During a drug check at Vienna Airport, police officers arrested a 39-year-old suspected drug trafficker with the help of two specially trained dogs. The man hid 14 kilograms of cocaine in his wheelchair, Austrian electronic media reported.
According to the police, the Venezuelan citizen came to Austria from Brazil. He has stated that he is only able to get around with the help of his electric wheelchair. According to a police report, the 39-year-old Venezuelan also carried detailed documentation for examinations and treatment in Vienna, BTA reported.
But police dogs have given clear signals of traces of drugs. In the end, in the seat and backrest of the wheelchair, officers found a total of 14 kilograms of “highest quality” cocaine, valued at around 1.5 million euros.
The drug trafficking suspect was arrested and made a confession during the interrogation. It turned out that the 39-year-old man did not need the wheelchair that served as a disguise. By order of the prosecutor’s office, he was taken to a local jail.
