Mumbai: A case has come to light where a customer who went to drink coffee at a hotel in Malad found a cockroach in his coffee. The customer has filed an FIR against the hotel manager, a waiter and another person. 25-year-old Pratik Rawat, who works in an event company, went to a cafe located on New Link Road near the mall with his friend. Both of them found the coffee bitter, so they asked the waiter to add sugar. The waiter took the cups to the counter, added sugar and then served it. While drinking coffee through a straw, Rawat felt something unusual in the glass. When he checked the cup, a cockroach was found in it. Rawat immediately took a photo of the cup and called the waiter and showed him the cockroach.
The lounge owner clarified
The lounge owner showed the mesh used to make cold coffee in the kitchen and tried to explain that the cockroach cannot enter through it. The owner then threw the cockroach in the basin.
The customer filed a case
Rawat has lodged a case under sections 125, 274, 275 and 3(5) of the IPC at the police station. The complainant is also going to lodge a complaint with the BMC on Monday. The police have issued a notice under section 41A to record the statement.
Prateek said that he had drunk about 70% of his coffee when he saw a cockroach inside the glass. That scene kept playing in his mind. He could not sleep the whole night. He vomited and felt nauseous.
