Bandai Namco has announced that Code Vein II: Mask of Idris, the first major expansion for the action RPG developed by Bandai Namco Studios Inc., will launch worldwide on September 9, 2026. The expansion will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. According to RPG Site, the DLC can be purchased individually or as part of the Deluxe and Ultimate Editions of Code Vein II.

Exploring the Forsaken World and Temporal Rifts
The Mask of Idris expansion features a history-altering story separate from the main campaign, taking place in a realm known as the Forsaken World. Throughout the base game of Playstation, players encounter Temporal Rifts, which are spaces that preserve residual traces of branching historical paths created by past interventions of the hero Idris. Although these rifts were meant to disappear over time, one rift continued to expand and formed the Forsaken World. At the center of this alternate realm sits the Spindle of Pathos, a colossal swirling force that draws in emotions from across time and space and now threatens to impact the real world.
New Companions Liv Voda and Lou MagMell
Players traversing the expansion will be joined by new partners, including Liv Voda, the half-sister of Valentin Voda and the original keeper of the Temporal Rift. Described as an alluring guardian of time and space with a combative personality, Liv eventually left her tasks after growing bored and spending years away from the frontier region. Her hair and eyes grow brighter when her emotions ramp up, and her Formae includes Chariot Rave, which works alongside her Linkage Trait and the support Formae Mad Blood Dance to make enemies more prone to staggering and boost attack power. The expansion also introduces Lou MagMell, a different version of the character who entered the Forsaken World following a separate tragedy, with her backstory unfolding gradually across the expansion.
Combat Additions, Formae, and Access Requirements
The DLC expands the combat system with new weapons, Formae, and formidable new bosses. Among the new techniques is Grave Knocker, a martial arts Formae matching all weapon types that allows the protagonist to deliver a heavy aerial kick and generate shockwaves that knock back nearby enemies. Another addition is the Sword of Karma, which summons a large sword steeped in the flames of Pathos to provide offensive power and long reach. To access the Mask of Idris campaign, players must meet specific post-game conditions, including reaching the Luna Fraterna ending of the main narrative and completing the sub-mission Valentin’s request.
Free Update Version 2.0 Arriving Simultaneously
Alongside the release of the expansion, Cinelinx will deploy Free Update Version 2.0. This update will implement various improvements and add content that allows players to explore the post-main game world alongside their partners. Additional details regarding the free update and upcoming content are scheduled to be released at a later date by Bandai Namco.
