By temporary order of the president of the 5th Department of the Council of State, Margarita Gortolidou, the construction projects of the regional flyover in Thessaloniki are temporarily stopped.
The temporary order of the president of the 5th Department is valid until the issuance of a decision on the request for suspension filed by the Associations, etc. and is expected to be discussed on April 17, 2024.
The temporary order was given after the appeals filed by the Association of Residents of Constantinopouli, the Association for the Protection of Sheikh Sou and the Association of Runners of Thessaloniki, according to the Athens Agency.
In response to a question regarding the recent issuance of a temporary order by the Council of State to suspend all work on the construction of the regional flyover in Thessaloniki, the Deputy Minister of Infrastructure and Transport in charge of infrastructure Nikos Tachiaos stated:
“We will respect the decision of the Court. We are in consultation with the Ministry of the Environment, which represents the Greek State in the whole process, so that the complete file of the project can be submitted to the judicial authorities as soon as possible in order to proceed with the adjudication of the Request for Suspension. This development confirms what I have pointed out in the past, that the only surprises that can stop the progress of this project, can only arise from judicial involvement.
I would like to emphasize that at this stage the preliminary works are very close to completion and the construction site has taken an irreversible form. Arrears that hinder the progress and completion of the project, aggravate the suffering experienced by the city of Thessaloniki. For this reason, at the Ministry of Infrastructure and Transport, we urgently need to resolve the problem.”
