Through a statement issued on January 26, 2024, it was announced that the New Molecules Committee (CMN) of the Federal Commission for the Protection against Health Risks (Cofepris) approved the emergency use of the Patria vaccine against COVID-19 in people over 18 years of age.

However, this vaccine is not recommended for those who suffer from a chronic disease – such as diabetes and hypertension – since studies have shown that it is not effective for them.

Based on this, the experts summoned to the 3rd extraordinary session carried out an analysis of the biological information presented by the Avi-Mex Laboratory committee, reaching the conclusion that the vaccine is safe.

“Regarding safety, they will tell us that it is the most important element, it is key, and in this case the rate of adverse events is low, and the majority of adverse events are of mild severity, this provides a safety profile that is comparable with the rest of the vaccines that are approved in Mexico”mentioned the Coordinator of the New Molecules Committee, Dr. Carlos Jerjes Sánchez Ramírez.
