Through an in-depth review, Federal Commission for the Protection Against Sanitary Risks (Cofepris) identified 11 new distributors of irregular medications. All of them fail to comply with health regulations and were therefore closed. In addition to operating irregularly, their work also puts the integrity of the population at risk.

Based on the above, Cofepris published a list of irregular drug distributors that were identified throughout the national territory.

Cofepris detected that, of these irregular distributors of medicines, 10 had an operating notice registered with this regulatory agency, but upon carrying out verification visits it was found that the addresses are not warehouses, but rather residential homes. In some cases, the addresses indicated in the operating notice do not exist.

This commission urges buyers of medicines and users of health supplies to avoid purchasing drugs in the indicated establishments.

Likewise, it is recommended to verify that distributors have a health manager and legal documentation that guarantees the safety and quality of the products, such as an operating notice and health license.

The danger of counterfeit medicines

It is important to remember that one of the most serious problems that has not yet been resolved is the marketing of apocryphal drugs. According to the World Health Organization (WHO), at least one in 10 on the market are counterfeit.
