Humberto Tobón, manager of the Eje Cafetero Administrative and Planning Region (RAP), has announced that preparations are already underway for coffee growers in the region to participate in the next edition of the Specialty Coffee Expo, organized by the Specialty Coffee Association (SCA). This world-class event, which will take place in 2025 in Houston, Texas, is one of the most important coffee exhibitions in the world and represents a crucial opportunity to position specialty coffees from the Eje Cafetero in the international market, opening doors to new business opportunities for local producers.

The announcement was made during a key meeting between the Secretaries of Agricultural Development of the departments of Caldas, Quindío, Risaralda and Tolima, who met in Chinchiná to coordinate efforts under the direction of the RAP Eje Cafetero. Juan Carlos Toro from Risaralda, Marino Murillo from Caldas, Fernando Borja Sánchez from Tolima and Elayne Loaiza representing Quindío participated in this meeting. In addition to planning their participation in the Specialty Coffee Expo, the representatives discussed a joint agenda for the rest of the year, focused on strengthening the agricultural production chains of the region.

“This was a great invitation from the RAP Eje Cafetero because we can see the joint work that has been done by the entity with the governorates. We have drawn up a route around national and international coffee fairs, promoting this and other productive chains so that our region continues to consolidate itself as an agricultural power at a national level,” said Juan Carlos Toro, Secretary of Agricultural Development of Risaralda, emphasizing the importance of interdepartmental collaboration.

The established plans include joint participation in several key events for the promotion of products from the Coffee Belt. These include the International Specialty Coffee Fair in Pereira, Expoeje Café in Montenegro, Colombia Cafés Especiales Expo in Bogotá, Tolima Corazón de Colombia in Planadas, Chinchiná Café Expo, Bogotá Coffee Fest, Choco Show also in the Colombian capital, and Territorio Aguacate in Medellín. These meetings provide vital platforms to make visible the quality of the region’s agricultural products and strengthen commercial ties at national and international levels.
