At the thirty-fifth edition of the Specialty Coffee Expo—held in Chicago, United States— Guatemala had the opportunity to participate as host country with its stand Guatemalan Coffees. This was one of the main points of the event where fifteen coffee producers from different coffee-growing areas of the country offered tastings to participants and cupping with potential buyers.
In addition, visitors were able to explore 14 coffees from the different cup profiles of winning coffees in the auction. Cup of Excellence, national and regional competitions of the 8 coffee-growing regions of Guatemala. The United States is one of the most important markets for Guatemalan coffee, since it currently represents 41% of exports and USD$390 million in foreign currency generation. For this reason, the positioning that our product had at the Specialty Coffee Expo is of vital importance for the industry.
The 2024 edition was the largest in the history of the event, with the participation of more than 17,000 attendees from 85 countries, as well as 602 exhibitors, 50 conferences, 25 workshops and two global competitions.
