New Delhi / Coimbatore ∙ Tamil Nadu Police has charged UAPA against 5 people arrested in the car blast case that killed one person. NIA may take over the case.

Muhammad Talka (25), Muhammad Azharuddin (23) from Ukkadam, Muhammad Riaz (27), Firoz Ismail (27) and Muhammad Nawaz Ismail (26) of GM Nagar were arrested on Monday evening. Jamesha Mubin (29) of HMPR Street, Ukkadam was killed in an explosion in a car in front of Kottamedu Sangameshwar Temple near the Town Hall on Sunday morning. In 2019, the NIA had interrogated the murdered Jamesha Mubin and some of the accused. The interrogation was based on information that he was in contact with Zahran Hashim, the mastermind of the Easter attack in Sri Lanka.

Thrissur ∙ The initial conclusion is that the information that Jamesha Mubin, who was killed in the explosion in Coimbatore, visited Viyyur High Security Jail is untrue. It was reported that Mubin had visited accused Mohammad Azharuddin in Viyyur High Security Jail, who was taken into custody by NIA in the 2019 Sri Lankan blast case, 2 years ago.
