Title: Tamil Nadu Minister Addresses Public Demand for New Liquor Varieties in ‘Tasmac’ Shops

Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu – Tamil Nadu Minister Muthusamy announced the introduction of new liquor varieties in ‘Tasmac’ liquor shops due to public demand. The minister’s statement came during a recent press conference held in Coimbatore, where he also launched various development works worth Rs 13 crore.

Responding to queries from reporters about the backlog of petitions in the Chief Minister’s Address Scheme in the housing department, Minister Muthusamy acknowledged the issue. He revealed that there were 17,807 pending petitions, not limited to housing but also spanning other departments such as the Urban Development Department and CMDA.

To address these petitions, the government established a complaint box, from which 6,000 petitions were received. A committee was formed to investigate the matters raised in these petitions, which will also be included in the Prime Minister’s address programme.

Minister Muthusamy also mentioned that liquor bill machines have been provided to certain shops, and arrangements are being made to monitor the sales from Chennai. This initiative aims to minimize errors in the distribution and sale of liquor across all the stores.

Additionally, the government has taken steps to relocate bars near schools and temples to non-affected areas. Those operating illegally or selling liquor without proper licenses have been sealed off. These measures are part of the administration’s efforts to maintain law and order in the city.

During the press conference, the minister was questioned about the introduction of a new type of liquor, specifically “100 percent malt” beer. He justified the move by stating that it is important to cater to the diverse preferences of the public. Minister Muthusamy emphasized that while new varieties are introduced, the government is also undertaking initiatives to combat alcohol addiction.

The topic of discussion then shifted to allegations against the Mayor of Coimbatore, for which the minister assured a response in the next meeting. He disclosed ongoing investigations with the councilors, stressing the importance of addressing any administrative issues within the municipal office. The intention is to ensure efficient functioning and prompt action on the backlog of files, which will be handled by the collector and commissioner.

The press conference shed light on developments in multiple domains, ranging from liquor sales to housing petitions and administrative matters. The government’s focus on meeting public demand and improving governance demonstrates their dedication to serving the people of Tamil Nadu.
