Coimbatore student commits suicide – Police intensify to arrest school principal

The incident where a Plus-2 student committed suicide after being unable to bear the sexual harassment of a school teacher in Coimbatore has caused a stir. Teacher Mithun Chakraborty has been arrested and jailed under the Pokcho Act for sexually harassing a student and inciting suicide in the case.

Coimbatore Deputy Commissioner of Police Jayachandran said action would be taken if anyone else was at fault in the student suicide case.

Coimbatore Deputy Commissioner of Police Jayachandran met the parents of the deceased student and conducted an investigation. He later told reporters that a case had been registered against school principal Mira Jackson under the Pokோmon Act for failing to take action against a teacher who allegedly sexually harassed a student, and that two teams had been set up to catch him.
