WASHINGTON, January 29, 2026 – The U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) is bolstering its oversight of the crypto markets by adding some of the industry’s most prominent executives to its newly established Innovation Advisory Committee. The appointments, announced January 26, include the CEOs of Coinbase, Ripple, Robinhood, and Uniswap Labs, signaling a significant step toward integrating digital assets into the existing regulatory framework.
A Broad Spectrum of Expertise
The 35-member committee is designed to steer the CFTC on the needs of firms at the forefront of financial innovation. Chairman Mike Selig repurposed a previous CEO council, established late last year, to form this larger, more diverse group. “By bringing together participants from every corner of the marketplace, the IAC will be a major asset for the Commission as we work to modernize our rules and regulations for the innovations of today and tomorrow,” Selig stated.
The committee isn’t solely focused on crypto. It also includes top executives from FanDuel, DraftKings, Nasdaq, CME Group, Cboe Global Markets, the Futures Industry Association (FIA), and the International Swaps and Derivatives Association (ISDA), reflecting a desire for input from both traditional finance and emerging technologies.
Beyond the Big Names
Alongside the well-known CEOs, the committee features a range of experts from the crypto space, including Chris Dixon of a16z Crypto, Anatoly Yakovenko of Solana Labs, Peter Mintzberg of Grayscale, Sergey Nazarov of Chainlink Labs, and Alana Palmedo of Paradigm. Tom Farley, CEO of Bullish, is also a member.
This advisory committee comes as the CFTC and the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) are coordinating their efforts on crypto regulation through Project Crypto, recently announced by both agencies’ leaders.
