A shift in weather patterns is expected across Egypt, bringing very cold overnight temperatures followed by warmer daytime conditions. the General Authority of Meteorology has detailed the forecast for tommorow, predicting a high of 21 degrees Celsius in Greater Cairo.
The forecast indicates a marked temperature contrast, with frigid conditions prevailing during the night and early morning hours. Though, temperatures are anticipated to rise throughout the day, offering a respite from the cold. The cold snap is expected to last through Wednesday, with gradual warming thereafter.
Northwestern Coasts and Sinai Brace for Rain
While much of the country will experience fluctuating temperatures, areas along the northwestern coasts and in South Sinai are likely to see precipitation. “The opportunity is ripe for light rain to fall,” according to a statement from the meteorological body. Residents in these regions should prepare for potentially wet conditions. The rain is a result of a low-pressure system interacting with Mediterranean moisture, bringing localized showers. The heaviest rainfall is expected along the coast near Alexandria.
Dust and wind Threaten Visibility in Western Egypt
Strong winds are expected to impact the northwestern coasts and the Western Desert, potentially creating hazardous conditions for travelers. The authority warns that these winds may carry sand and dust, significantly reducing horizontal visibility on some roadways.Drivers are advised to exercise extreme caution. Wind speeds could reach up to 40 kilometers per hour, creating near white-out conditions in some areas. The winds are originating from the Libyan Desert and are being channeled through valleys.
Dust Concerns Extend to Major Metropolitan Areas
The potential for reduced visibility isn’t limited to the western regions. There is a considerable chance of suspended dust forming throughout the day in Greater Cairo, Lower Egypt, and the northern reaches of Upper Egypt. This could impact air quality and visibility in densely populated areas. The dust is expected to be most concentrated during peak traffic hours, exacerbating respiratory issues for vulnerable populations. The situation is expected to improve by Thursday as winds shift.
