Collaboration Kysos and OLVG in obesity care

by time news

Kysos and the Obesity Center Amsterdam (OCA, part of OLVG) will start a collaboration on 1 January in the field of bariatric care, both in surgery and prevention of obesity. The collaboration between OCA and the Dutch Obesity Clinic was recently signed.

Kysos and OLVG reported this on September 22. From next year, the OCA will be the only clinic that performs gastric reductions and that can provide the associated multidisciplinary care in and around Amsterdam. In addition, psychologists and lifestyle coaches from the mental health clinic Oh My Mood and dieticians and lifestyle coaches from DieetPlaneet offer support within the obesity care path. It is expected that 1600 patients will be treated next year.

Screening en monitoring

To assess whether a patient is suitable for surgery, the patient is carefully screened by healthcare professionals on a psychological and dietetic level. The entire screening process takes place digitally and from home instead of in the hospital. After this, the medical screening takes place. Only patients are operated on for whom surgery offers the last hope. Patients will be digitally monitored for another five years after their surgery to ensure that they can continue with the necessary lifestyle change. In doing so, they are supported on the basis of alarm signals with e-health coaching in the field of lifestyle, and on a mental and dietetic level.
