Valparai: Estate workers are suffering as the passenger canopy is narrow and collapsing.
In Sirukunra LD, Kanjamalai division under Valparai municipality, a passenger shelter was built by the municipality 20 years ago. As the canopy is narrow enough for only three people to stand, the laborers face great difficulty.
The workers said:
The traveler shelter in Sirukunra Estate, Kanjamalai Division is used by workers, school and college students from the two estates. Travelers are unable to go inside during rain and sun due to the narrow canopy and wait for hours in the open.
Municipal officials should personally inspect the deplorable condition of the cramped and collapsing passenger canopy. Steps should be taken to build a new roof.
