  • On Friday, the emergency slide of a Delta Air Lines Boeing 767 collapsed shortly after takeoff.

  • Now she’s washed up on a stretch of beach in Queens.

  • A lawyer involved in a lawsuit against Boeing discovered it, of all people.

A Delta Air Lines Boeing 767-300 was forced to turn back due to a malfunction shortly after takeoff from John F. Kennedy International Airport in New York on Friday morning. Los Angeles would be the destination. Flight 520 returned to the airport around 8:35 am after the crew noticed a vibration, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

Shortly after takeoff, the pilots reported vibrations and a crashing noise to air traffic control, as reported by ABC News. The plane was in the air for a total of 33 minutes before returning to JFK Airport. A Delta spokesman later said an emergency chute had been detached from the aircraft. There were 176 passengers, two pilots and five flight attendants on board. They all fled in terror.

Plaintiff Boeing received the part

Now, after two days, the rubber part has washed up on the beach at Rockaway Beach, but about nine kilometers from the airport: The yellow slider was bobbing in the surf in Belle Harbor near Rockaway Beach in the Queens area. And Jake Bissell-Linsk found the slide, of all people, a lawyer whose company has filed its lawsuit against Boeing, as the New York Post exclusively reports: His law firm sued the aircraft manufacturer because that he had lost a door after the incident. allegedly provided false safety information on an Alaska Airlines plane.

Bissell-Linsk said he went outside and took a photo of the yellow slide next to him. He noticed that he appeared to be safe, even though he was stuck in the rocks and swimming in the surf. “I didn’t want to touch her, but I got close enough to get a close look at her,” Bissell-Linsk told the Post. He is still surprised: “Our case is about safety at Boeing, and this slide is right in front of my house.”

Delta picked up Slide immediately

A few hours after the discovery, a team of Delta workers arrived and lifted the slide out of the water and loaded it onto a pickup truck. “My neighbor called the FAA hotline and they’re closed on Sunday,” Bissell-Linsk said. “So he called it Delta.”

Bissell-Linsk said he hopes aviation authorities will investigate why the slide fell from the plane. “I think the slide should be handed over to those investigating the incident.” He does not yet know if the incident will play a role in his own events.
