The first meeting between the mayor of Barcelona, Jaume Collboni, and the president of the Generalitat de Catalunya, Pere Aragonès, concludes with the commitment of both institutions to collaborate, with an eye on expanding the public housing stock as a priority. The Barcelona City Council will transfer 27 plots of land to the Generalitat of Catalonia so that it can build almost 1,800 subsidized homes on them.

The meeting has served to put on the table the joint lines of work of the Consistory and the government, which have been called for a new meeting on October 20 to give continuity to the meetings of the Generalitat-Barcelona City Council Mixed Commission.

Housing, priority axis

The promotion of affordable housing policies will be one of the priorities of the two administrations, as agreed today in the first meeting between the mayor and the president of the Generalitat.

With the aim of expanding the public park, the City Council has offered 27 pieces of land in different parts of the city. Of the 27 lots offered, 14 would already be available, while the other 13 could be transferred over the next four years. The 14 closest ones would make it possible to promote 811 flats, while the second batch would total 953. They are located mainly in the districts of Sant Martí, Sants-Montjuïc and Nou Barris.

Two examples would be the plots built on Via Trajana 17-19 (La Verneda) for 134 flats and Calle Plom, 17 (Marina del Prat Vermell) for 88 more, both on the outskirts of the capital.
