The Catholic Church has collected in the last tax declaration campaign more than 320 million eurosa figure record which represents an increase of 8.5% compared to the previous year and which is due to theincrease of 84,201 in the number of declarations in favor of the Church.

This was advanced this Tuesday by the Deputy Secretary for Economic Affairs of the Spanish Episcopal Conference (CEE), Fernando Giménez Barriocanal, who detailed that more than 8.5 million Spaniards check the Church’s box taking into account the individual and joint statements, which means the 31.29% of those presented.

The total amount allocated to the Church in the last income campaign, which refers to thefiscal year 2021stands at 320,723,062 euros, “system record figure” and which represents an increase of 8.5% compared to the previous year. On average, the contribution that the Church receives from each taxpayer is 37,73 euros.

The tax allocation supposes, as an average, the 22% of the funding of the diocesesa fact that according to the CEE’s opinion represents a progressive improvement of its own financing capacity own by other means apart from the income declaration, thanks to the increase in own collections, the work of the support offices in the dioceses, etc.
