Car catches fire after accident with bus transporting dance group from Porto Alegre to Novo Hamburgo
A traffic accident on Avenida Assis Brasil, in the North Zone of Porto Alegre, Rio Grande do Sul, left people in serious condition this Tuesday morning (22). The accident involves a car and a bus, which were transporting around 30 children to a dance festival in Novo Hamburgo. The car caught fire after the collision.
The car was being driven by a man, who was rescued by the people who were at the scene. The bus driver ended up getting stuck in the wreckage, being rescued by the Fire Department team, both being sent to the hospital. The health status of the two drivers is serious.
So far, there is no further information about other injuries in the accident. In all, two ambulances from the Mobile Emergency Care Service (Samu) were sent to rescue the people involved.
The collision would have occurred around 11:30 am, and, according to reports by witnesses to RBS TV, some passengers would have had their faces hurt due to the impact of the collision.
The causes of the accident are still uncertain. The Public Transport and Circulation Company (EPTC) also reported that the region, which had stopped traffic, is slowly returning to circulation.
