He Government of Colombia and the so-called Central General Staff of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC), the group’s main dissident, have announced the installation of one Table of Peace Dialogues with the aim of put an end to to armed confrontation and get a whole pau chordstable and durable.
One of the main objectives of the table will be to agree on a tall the bilateral foc and temporary at national level. In the first phase, of a preliminary nature, the representatives of both parties they will work with the permanent presence of officials from theOffice of the High Commissioner for Peace and representatives of the international community, the Catholic Church and the World Council of Churches, reports the Colombian newspaper ‘El Tiempo’.
The topics to be discussed include adjustments to the ceasefire protocol, protection of the civilian population that day implementation of oversight, monitoring and verification mechanisms. A pre-agenda for the Peace Dialogue Table will also be established, the methodology of a traveling table will be discussed and civil society participation mechanisms will be discussed.

In the coming days, both the National Government and the Central General Staff will publicly announce the names of their respective representatives at the Peace Dialogue Table.
Primer intent
A first attempt at a ceasefire that went into effect on September 22, but was suspended by the Government last May 22 after the murder of four indigenous minors attributed to the guerrillas. The Central General Staff is the largest dissent currently active. It is led by Néstor Vera Fernández, alias ivan biteof the death of Miguel Botache Santillanaalias Gentil Duarte, and has close to 3,000 fighters that did not accept the Final Agreement signed with the FARC in 2016.
