The Colombian Army continues with the search for the Wilson sniffer dog, which is missing in the jungle.

Colonel Gustavo Narváez Orozco told Infobae that the Belgian shepherd disappeared on May 18 and that he was last seen days before the children were located.

“On June 6th we saw the dog. He was a little skinny. They tried to use food, called him by name and used a Civil Defense puppy to play with Wilson, but as soon as he saw us, he ran away. That was the last time we had contact with him”, said the colonel.

The military also revealed that Wilson was seen on May 20, two days after he disappeared, but that he strangely ran away. Narváez Orozco believes that the hostile environment of the forest may have scared the dog.

The animal was trained to locate people and had a year and a half of experience in this type of search. According to the trainer, he was used to the activity of going out to sniff around in an open area and returning.

Older sister Lesly, 13, confirmed that Wilson was with thembut the dog disappeared afterwards.

The teams working on the search even found the children’s footprints with the dog’s paws nearby during the period when their whereabouts were still unknown.

As soon as the four brothers were located, after 40 days, and it was reported that Wilson was missing, a movement began on social media so that the Colombian Army would not abandon the sniffer dog in the forest.

A post on Twitter tried to reassure those who were worried about the dog. “The search is not over yet. Our premise: no one is left behind. The soldiers continue the operation to find Wilson”, published the Colombian Army in an official profile.
