Colombia: delivery of person in Cauca

by time news

“A fundamental element of our humanitarian work is helping to reunite families separated by armed conflict, so we thank the parties concerned for counting on our good offices to facilitate this release. We are happy that this person can regain his freedom and reunite with their loved ones,” said Kian Abbassian, head of the ICRC sub-delegation in Cali.

The ICRC team assessed the person’s state of health and confirmed that he was in good condition.

“In the department of Cauca, as in other areas of the country, the humanitarian consequences of armed conflicts and violence continue, which is why it is important to dialogue with all weapon carriers. In this context, we will continue to work neutrally and impartially in different territories to help those in need,” Abbassian added.

The ICRC reminds all parties to the conflict of the importance of respecting and applying international humanitarian law in order to lessen the effects of armed conflict and violence.
