Colombia defeated Argentina 2-1 at home and avenged their loss in the dramatic Copa America final two months earlier.

Colombia and Argentina faced off again two months after the dramatic Copa America final in the USA, where the Albiceleste triumphed 1-0 thanks to Martínez’s goal in extra time.

This time, it was Colombia that smiled, as they won 2-1 with James Rodríguez being the main star in the World Cup qualifiers. The Cafeteros took the lead with Mosquera in the 25th minute after an assist from James.

Argentina temporarily equalized with Nico González in the 48th minute, but Colombia regained the lead with a successful penalty kick from James in the 60th minute.

Argentina remained at the top of the standings with 18 points, while Colombia closed the gap, reaching 16 points.
