The Democratic Center party denied that Dabinsson Niño Meyer, the first Colombian to be extradited to the United States linked to a fentanyl sale case, denied that the citizen requested by the justice system of the North American country is a militant of that community.

“Citizen DABINSSON NIÑO MEYER, identified with citizenship card No. 91,526,622, is NOT in the Unique Identification and Registration System of Members of the Democratic Center Party,” the party clarified.

The community also denied that Niño Meyer was the political coordinator of that party in the department of Santander. “In that sense, Mr. NIÑO MEYER has never been a member of the Democratic Center, nor has he belonged to any board of directors in the party,” they explained in a statement.

Colombia extradited, for the first time, a Bumanguese citizen to the United States for distributing fentanyl between 2017 and 2019 in the states of Pennsylvania and New York. This was confirmed this Monday, September 18, by the National Police.

“After exhaustive police cooperation work, the first extradition by the National Government of the Colombian citizen Dabinsson Niño Meyer was carried out from the city of Bogotá to the United States,” the institution detailed in a statement.

Niño Meyer, along with his organization, were responsible for distributing large quantities of fentanyl for three years in the United States, the country most affected by the appearance of this drug.

The 39-year-old detainee will have to answer in the United States for the crimes of drug trafficking, distribution and possession of fentanyl, which were the tasks carried out by all the members of this organization.

The man was detained for extradition purposes by the Colombian Police last year in a rural area of ​​the municipality of Acacías, in the department of Meta.
