With the aim of supporting the internationalization of Colombian companies owned or led by women towards the African market, today, Monday, August 26, 2024, an important agenda begins within the framework of the first Exploratory Mission of the “Ella Exporta a África” program in the South African city of Pretoria.
During the week, these same businesswomen will have meetings in Johannesburg and Cape Town, as part of this initiative of the National Government, led by the Vice Presidency of the Republic through the Free and Productive Women Fund, ProColombia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Embassy of Colombia in South Africa.

This mission, the first in the history of our country, will allow the 24 Colombian companies that will travel to validate their products and/or services first-hand, as well as understand how close they are to achieving their internationalization process in the African market. The businesswomen will have a first approach with different actors, such as control entities and others, that influence internationalization.
It is important to emphasize that, in addition to promoting the internationalization of Colombian companies on the African continent, this initiative also seeks to close gender gaps in business development and access to international trade, promoting equal opportunities and strengthening the autonomy and economic empowerment of women.
María Fernanda Reyes, director of the Fondo Mujer Libre y Productiva, said that, “This program is a testament to the National Government’s commitment to gender equality and the promotion of female entrepreneurship. With ‘Ella Exporta a África’, we are not only opening doors to international trade for our businesswomen, we are also promoting their economic empowerment and autonomy.”
This initiative, thanks to the “Ella Exporta a África” Program – an initiative of the National Government entrusted to the Vice Presidency of the Republic through the Free and Productive Woman Fund – to ProColombia and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Colombia, 24 Colombian women’s companies will travel to the African continent.
