What the world needs more than anything right now is love, say ironic comic book antagonists Joker and Harley Quinn in the first trailer for Joker: Folie à Deux. It was published by the studio Warner Bros. on Wednesday night. The more than two-minute video represents one of the most anticipated images of the year. The main roles were played by Joaquin Phoenix and the singer Lady Gaga.

As described by Variety.com, the preview begins in Arkham Institution for the mentally disturbed, where Arthur Fleck aka the Joker ended up at the end of the first part of 2019. It is here that Batman’s arch-nemesis meets another local ward, Harley Quinn. “Come on, let’s get out of here,” suggests his new friend.
“I’m zero. I didn’t handle my life the way you did,” Harley Quinn admits to him admiringly. She then puts her fingers to her temple as if she were holding a gun and imitates pulling the trigger with her finger.
The first part of director Todd Phillips from 2019 showed how the failed comedian Fleck, as a result of bad decisions, begins to sink into the depths of madness and turns into the criminal Joker, who stirs up a wave of violence. “I’ll tell you what’s changed. I’m not alone anymore,” he announces now in the trailer.
When the director presented the news at CinemaCon, a meeting of film and pop culture fans in Las Vegas, he received a question about the genre classification of Joker: Folie à Deux. The studio called it a musical several times. According to Phillips, this is slightly misleading, although the film does contain a lot of songs and dance scenes. “The music is essential in it, but it doesn’t deviate in any fundamental way from number one, and we’ve never talked about it like that,” he said according to The Hollywood Reporter magazine.
The first installment of Joker from 2019 grossed over a billion dollars worldwide and received 11 Oscar nominations, two of which he converted. Joaquin Phoenix won for his portrayal of one of the most controversial villains in the DC comics universe, and composer Hildur Guðnadóttir won for Best Soundtrack. It is “probably the most original comic book film of all time,” noted critic Kamil Fila.
Folie à deux from the subtitle of the sequel is a designation for an induced mental disorder, shared hallucinations, delusions or delusions, literally madness in two.
Czech cinemas will release the second part of Joker on October 3. While the first one had a budget of around 60 million dollars, the studio invested over 200 million dollars in the sequel, which translates to more than 4.6 billion crowns, the website Variety.com concludes.
