For those of you born sometime in the last millennium, the mention of the cocktail might ring a few bells: Posterboy Patrick “Dirty Dancing” Swazye, the man with the world’s deepest bass voice, Sam Elliot (1883), the sex bomb Kelly Lynch, and the plot to a small extent cheesy action movie?
Yep, we’re talking about Rowdy Herringtons Road House – now Prime Video has decided to bring the 1989 film back to life.
Tough bar bouncer Dalton (Swayze) will forever be remembered for the hairy line: «It’s My Way or the Highway!».
Not the first film we would bet money on getting a remake, but now Prime Video has released the intense trailer for Road House anno 2024.
The lead role, as the hard-hitting middleweight boxer Elwood Dalton, is played by none other than character actor Jake Gyllenhaal (Nightcrawler, Brokeback Mountain, The Sisters Brothers, The Covenant), while his chosen one, Ellie, is played by Daniela Melchior (Fast & Furious 10).

In other leading roles we see Billy Magnussen (No Time to Die), Jessica Williams (Shrinking), Conor McGregor, Lukas Gage (The White Lotus), Gbemisola Ikumelo, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, B.K. Cannon, Arturo Castro, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp og Bob Menery.
In the director’s chair sits Doug Liman, known for, among other things, the fierce action films Edge of Tomorrow and play American Made.
Joel Silver is producing the film, as he did with the original.
In this adrenaline-filled remake, former UFC fighter Dalton (Gyllenhaal) takes a job as a doorman at a shady nightclub along The Florida Keys.
Dalton is a muscular, quick-witted guy, struggling to make ends meet. The bar owner (Jessica Williams) finds him sleeping in the car – and hires him as a bouncer.
He quickly discovers, however, that this paradise is far from what it pretends to be.
War-like conditions between local, lawless motorcycle gangs, as well as a property developer who wants to raze the entire hill to the ground, create “interesting” friction…

In the film, we get to see the real MMA athlete Conor McGregor, in his acting debut.
In the press release, the director, Liman, states:
I’m thrilled to put my own spin on the beloved «Road House» legacy. And I can’t wait to show audiences what Jake and I are going to do with this iconic role.
