«Next», a comedy about changing customs and sexual choices, arrives at the cinema. The film, which marks the directorial debut of Giulietta Revel, the face of many fictions and an all-round artist, narrates the dream of the writer Alfredo, a refined intellectual and penniless dreamer, of seeing one of his stories come true on the big screen and finally having recognized his talent. Especially from his mother, who still passes him the money, treats him like an immature child and considers him a failure. After yet another refusal by a well-known producer, he agrees to follow the needs of the market: the public wants sex, intrigue, power, money, luxury and perversions. In short, he is private vices and public virtues. Instigated by the producer, he will improvise as a spy to discover the hidden sides of the city jet-set.
Many stories that are intertwined in the film, from the rich and charming entrepreneur who suffers from obsessive-compulsive syndrome and is sexually affected by a strange form of voyeurism towards his wife, to the story of a true transgender woman and her transition path, to the girl in search of her sexual identity; from the elegant yet dissatisfied high society lady who finds a way to unleash her true nature, to the exuberant woman with a passion for younger men. Finally, the esteemed psychoanalyst who has invented a very unorthodox method to treat many of the protagonists, a former opera singer with an irrepressible physique who organizes sexual encounters for wealthy and bored couples and a successful, cynical and rude producer, who will eventually make the Alfredo’s cinematic dream. The film, produced by Piebald (www.piebaldfilm.com), a small independent production company, brings together a respectable cast: in addition to Giulietta Revel, also Barbara Bouchet, Alessandro Haber, Corinne Clery, Paolo Conticini, Deborah Caprioglio, Fabio Fulco, Jonis Bascir (who also signs the music), Pietro Romano and Daniela Terreri, as well as Pino Strabioli in the role of himself and the transgender Claudia Ferri, who retraces her transition path to become a woman. The proceeds from the Premiere, which will be held at the Anteo cinema in Milan, will be donated to the Pediatric Ward of the Fatebenefratelli Hospital in Milan through the Compagnia degli Insoliti Ignoti, which has been involved in supporting charity projects in the area for years.
