Holidays and outings are the biggest pain for breastfeeding mothers
The brand “Mom is Wow” was born from a painful personal experience. After giving birth, Simona from Šiauliai spent more and more time at home, a simple walk around the shops or the city became a huge headache. The young mother was afraid to go far even from the public toilets where she hid and breastfed her baby. Any holiday away from home was stressful because there was nothing to wear. All the available clothes were not only not suitable for breastfeeding, but also because of the changes in the forms I had before giving birth, it greatly reduced my self-confidence.
“Mothers name many problems. Some of them hide while breastfeeding in public, others only look for dark, practical clothes, although they want to dress more colorfully. Still others don’t need casual clothes suitable for breastfeeding, but all mothers unanimously agree on a common concern – what to wear on holidays?” – says the founder of the brand, Simona, about the stories she hears in her activities.
After conducting a detailed market analysis and seeing that the offer of specialized clothes for breastfeeding is extremely limited, and there are practically no occasion clothes, Simona decided that it was time to make a change and start sewing clothes herself. In this way, she is now making the everyday life easier not only for herself, but also for other mothers facing similar challenges.
Together with her team, Simona started to create comfortable dresses for nursing mothers, which can be used for various celebrations or even during vacations. Most importantly, mothers do not have to worry about the size, which always raises the most doubts after giving birth. Many sewn clothes are oversize, a bit looser. The founder says that in the “Mom is Wow” brand, attention to each customer is particularly important, so she always takes into account individual wishes – she adapts measurements, fasteners and offers both light and dark clothes, both thick and thin fabrics. In the assortment, you can find both individual clothes and their sets.
Support is also received from mothers raising older children
Although the brand “Mom is Wow” has been in existence for only one year, Simona receives a lot of support not only from breastfeeding mothers, but also from mothers who are already raising older children.
“Many mothers write to us saying that if only they had discovered us earlier, when they were breastfeeding themselves, they would definitely have bought our clothes. I won’t hide it, it’s very motivating and inspiring, because it makes us understand that what we do is very important and necessary,” says the clothing designer.
The accolades for Simona and her brand are well deserved. All selected fabrics for clothes are “non-wrinkle”, processed with special technologies to minimize creasing and to be as durable as possible. According to the founder of the business, her mission is to make the purchased clothes last as long as possible, because she wants to wear clothes that always look brand new. That is why S.Plėtaitė is most proud of the collection’s clothes made of micro modal fabric, which is as soft as silk and made from beech wood cellulose, so it is completely biodegradable and durable. Made from micro modal, the T-shirt with long and short sleeves is a perfect addition to every mom’s wardrobe.
“Even non-nursing mothers buy these shirts because of their special comfort,” says the brand’s author.
“I often dream that it would be nice to have a specialized store in Lithuania specifically for nursing mothers, where women could find functional clothes created in Lithuania – from dresses to sweaters, from sleepwear to leisure wear for all shapes and tastes. I believe that good clothes are a contribution to self-confidence, well-being and positive mood, which I want to spread through the idea I am cultivating,” S. Plėtaitė shares her dreams and vision for the future.
