JTBC’s new drama ‘Good Boy’ (written by Lee Dae-il / directed by Shim Na-yeon), scheduled to air in the latter half of this year, is a comical action investigative drama about medalists who become police officers through special recruitment and fight against a world full of unscrupulousness and foul play while wearing police ID cards around their necks instead of medals.
The production will be directed by Shim Na-yeon, who won the Best TV Drama Award at the 57th Baeksang Arts Awards for “Monster,” as well as “Bad Mom,” which achieved both artistic quality and buzz. Writer Lee Dae-il, who has presented differentiated genre works such as “Life on Mars” and the “Chief of Staff” series, has joined the project.
The main cast includes Park Bo-gum, Kim So-hyun, Oh Jung-se, Lee Sang-i, Heo Sung-tae, and Tae Won-seok. Park Bo-gum plays Yoon Dong-ju, a special forces officer who became a police officer after being re-hired as a medalist after 11 years. Dong-ju is a character who won a gold medal in boxing with his natural toughness and fists, but after falling from the podium of glory due to a single incident, he is currently living a second life as a police officer. Although he is temporarily frozen in an unfamiliar world, the world where unscrupulousness and foul play run rampant awakens his dormant fighter instinct, and he throws himself into justice without any calculation.
Kim So-hyun plays Ji Han-na, a gold medalist in shooting and a special forces officer. Han-na was called the ‘shooting goddess’ due to her outstanding beauty during her time as an athlete and enjoyed popularity comparable to that of a celebrity, but she is also a person with many anti-fans and misunderstandings. Because of this, she suddenly achieves her dream of becoming a police officer like her father after retirement. And now, her gun is aimed at cruel villains rather than the target.
Oh Jung-se plays Min Joo-won, a 7th-grade civil servant at the Korea Customs Service who has received a commendation from the commissioner for his diligence and sincerity and solid work performance. At first glance, he wears the mask of a sincere civil servant, but there is another side to Joo-young. During the day, he hides his true face of desire with a good-natured smile and a simple suit, and at night, he shows the unstoppable speed of evil as the shadow of evil that dominates Inseong City.
Lee Sang-yi plays Kim Jong-hyun, a special forces detective who was a silver medalist in fencing but quit due to injury and became a police officer. Heo Sung-tae plays Ko Man-sik, a bronze medalist in wrestling and the leader of the special forces. Tae Won-seok plays Shin Jae-hong, a bronze medalist in discus throwing and a special forces detective.
