THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Akhila Anu Parvana….Coming to compete, striking gold, repeating…The performance of this trio was crucial in Kasaragod’s medal win at the 64th School Sports Festival. Parwana, who won gold in the sub-junior under-14 girls’ discus throw on the first day, repeated her gold achievement with a meet record in the sub-junior shot put held yesterday. He threw 10.11 in his own name. The record of 9.54 set by Henin Elizabeth in 2019 at KC Throws in Cheruvathur made Parvana an old record in the first year of the finals. Akhila Raju also bagged gold in senior girls’ shot put yesterday. The Chimeni GHSS star’s medal achievement was a distance of 14.43 meters. Anupriya VS, who won gold in Junior Girls’ shot put with a performance that broke the meet record on the first day, repeated her golden achievement yesterday with Junior Girls’ discus throw. The meet record was missed by a short distance. Anupriya’s medal achievement is about a distance of 36.43 meters. Elambachi is a student of GCSHSS.
KC throws medal
Along with three gold and silver on the first day, KC Girish Kumar’s disciples won three more gold yesterday, taking their medal tally to seven. A group of six people, including coach Girish Kumar’s son Sarvan, came from KC Thros to participate in the meet. Of these, four who have reached the field so far have won medals. The teacher is hoping that the other two will repeat the medal success with good performances. Coach Girish Kumar was the champion of the 1993 and 1994 school fair in discus throw shot put category. He was the amateur athletic meet state champion from 1999 to 2006.
