Sri Lanka Army Commander General Savendra Silva has said that the people of Mullaitivu should be given better protection and help in any way possible.

The Commander of the Sri Lanka Army visited the Mullaitivu Security Forces Headquarters and stated this in his New Year address to the troops serving under the Mullaitivu Security Forces Headquarters.

We need to ensure the best security for the people of Mullaitivu and help them in any way we can because most of them depend on the fishing industry and live amidst many challenges, the Army Commander said.

Therefore, he noted that the social relief work for them should be further expanded. He also pointed out that the people of Mullaitivu should be protected from being involved in illegal activities such as drug abuse.

At the same time, he noted that the services provided by the Army for the financial assistance to the people, the reconstruction of places of worship, the improvement of playground facilities and the strengthening of public services were commendable.

UN The Army Commander thanked the Commander of the Mullaitivu Security Forces Headquarters for his contribution to peacekeeping operations and for his assistance in the construction of houses for poor families.

Sri Lanka Army Commander General Shavendra Silva also stressed the need for officers and soldiers to realize the need to receive the necessary training to carry out their duties.
