A comment made by Sunil Gavaskar during a match between Rajasthan and Chennai has become controversial.
Shimron Hedmeyer, an action batsman from the West Indies, plays for the Rajasthan Royals in the IPL cricket series. He has scored 297 runs in 12 matches and has been instrumental in the team’s victory. Meanwhile, Hedmeyer returned home to India after giving birth to a baby girl for his full-term wife, Nivani. Thus Hedmeyer did not play in two league games. Following this, he joined the Rajasthan team in the last league match against CSK yesterday. Hedmeyer was out for just 6 runs in the match.
Earlier, when he was on the field, former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar’s comments on him were controversial. “It simply came to our notice then. He has done wife delivery; Will Headmire deliver at bat? Gavaskar commented, “Let’s see.”
Many netizens have condemned Sunil Gavaskar’s comment. Many are lashing out at him as a former player saying you should not make such substandard comments and speak calmly.
Gavaskar had earlier made a double point reference to his wife Anushka Sharma for not playing Virat Kohli properly. Even then Gavaskar’s comment met with harsh criticism.
