Washington, D.C. – As Americans prepare to celebrate Independence Day, the weather gods seem to be in a good mood. The midsummer heat and humidity have eased slightly, offering residents of the capital a respite from the scorching conditions experienced earlier this week.

Today’s weather is expected to be a delightful 6/10, with slightly cooler temperatures and ample sunshine for outdoor festivities. The sticky conditions from Monday have subsided, paving the way for more enjoyable activities in the sun.

According to the Capital Weather Gang, today will be mostly sunny, with isolated chances of showers or storms. High temperatures are predicted to range between 87-91°F, providing an ideal backdrop for those planning to spend the day outdoors. The evening might see a passing shower or storm, but most areas should remain dry. Overnight temperatures will range between 70-75°F.

The good news continues on Wednesday, with mostly sunny skies and highs ranging from the low 90s. While the humidity will remain moderately high, it is a significant improvement from previous days. A slight chance of an afternoon to evening thunderstorm adds an exciting flavor to the day’s weather forecast.

As Thursday approaches, the humidity begins to creep back in, accompanied by partly to mostly sunny skies. Highs in the low 90s and dew points in the low 70s create the perfect conditions for scattered afternoon thunderstorms. Thursday night will be muggy, with a slight chance of a shower or thunderstorm.

Friday ushers in a cool front, bringing partly sunny to mostly cloudy skies. Afternoon to evening thunderstorms are expected to be more widespread compared to the previous day. Highs will range from the upper 80s to low 90s, depending on cloud cover and rain chances. Cloudy conditions and scattered showers or thunderstorms can be expected Friday night.

The weekend promises moderate humidity, partly to mostly cloudy skies, and daily chances of thunderstorms. Saturday shows a higher likelihood of shower and storm activity compared to Sunday, with moderate chances of afternoon to evening showers. High temperatures will be in the mid to upper 80s. Saturday night may also see a passing shower or storm, with mostly cloudy skies and overnight temperatures ranging from the upper 60s to mid-70s.

While the storm chances increase as the weekend approaches, no severe or sustained heatwaves are expected in the near future.
