Commerce Ministry says sellers have no right to coerce consumers

by time news

Jeddah: The Saudi Ministry of Commerce (MOC) has clarified that the seller has no right to force customers to buy two products or to link the sale of one product to another.

The ministry’s explanation came in an infographic published on Udyogika’s Twitter account as part of its weekly campaign to raise public awareness about consumer rights.

But the ministry clarified that there are some changes in this law. Stores or sellers are allowed to use this method if they have announced an offer to get another item free with the purchase of a particular product.

Another exception is when a product’s brochure or catalog states that the two items are linked together.

For more information, the public can visit https://dalil.mc.gov.sa/ and click on the Consumer Guide link, the ministry said.
