According to our country’s Constitution (Scheduled Castes) Order- 1950, a person belonging to any religion other than Hindu, Sikh, Buddhist and S.C. It says that it cannot be treated as class.

But Islamic and Christian groups have given SC to Dalits who have converted to their respective religions. Class status demands that privileges be granted. But this demand was rejected by BJP. opposes A case in this regard is pending in the Supreme Court.

In this situation, the central government has set up a commission headed by former Supreme Court Chief Justice KG Balakrishnan to investigate this matter.

The 3-member commission consists of retired I.A.S. Officer Dr. Ravinder Kumar Jain, University Grants Commission Prof. Sushma Yadav will be members.

The Union Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment has issued a gazette notification to this effect.

* Historically they were SC. Those belonging to the caste, who at the same time claim to have converted to other religions not mentioned in Article 341 of the Constitution, SC. This commission will examine the grant of status.

* Taking into account the changes in customs, traditions, social discrimination and inferiority of Dalits after their conversion. The commission will also examine the implications of the decision.

* The Commission will also examine such other related questions as it may deem relevant in consultation with the Central Government and with its approval.

The Commission will be headquartered in Delhi. The chairman of this commission has been directed to submit his report to the central government within 2 years of assuming charge. This information is contained in the central government’s ‘Gazette’ (Gazette) notification.

SC for Dalit converts to Christianity and Islam. It is to be noted that if the status is given to the class, the reservation privilege given to them in education and employment will also be available to them.
