The General Student Forum has demanded a judicial inquiry into the clashes and casualties surrounding the ongoing movement demanding quota reform. At the same time, they demanded 9 points including permanent resettlement of the families of those injured and killed in the conflict and restoration of a healthy environment for education in the campus.

Today, Saturday (August 3), these demands were announced from the silent sit-in program organized by the general student stage in front of the National Museum.

Sakur Hasan said in the written speech of the silent program, we common students are deeply concerned about the incident caused by the anti-quota movement. Our demand for quota has been met. But many lives have been lost. There have been many sabotages taking advantage of this movement. We ordinary students did not come to politics. Came to raise our legitimate demands. We are shocked and appalled at the current level the matter has reached.’

Condemning the casualties surrounding the movement, he said, ‘It is a matter of extreme regret that innocent students have been killed in the ongoing quota movement in all places including educational institutions across the country like torture, persecution, attacks and loss of life. We strongly condemn on behalf of all the students and countrymen and wish the souls of all the martyrs to rest in peace and wish the injured students well.’

The 9-point demand raised by the government is expected to bring back the learning environment in all the educational institutions of the country.

-Every student loss of life organized around the quota movement must be impartially investigated and prosecuted.

-Release all arrested students in quota movement and stop all kinds of harassment. Apart from this, the released 6 coordinators cannot be harassed in any way later.

– External attackers in all educational institutions including Dhaka University should be identified and prosecuted as soon as possible.

– Institutional measures should be taken against those who are involved in university students among the attackers in all educational institutions and quick implementation should be ensured.

-Permanent rehabilitation of injured and martyred families in the quota movement should be ensured as soon as possible.

– All educational institutions including Dhaka University should be opened as soon as possible by ensuring an education-friendly environment and the hall administration should ensure proper arrangements to ensure valid seats in the residential halls of the university.

– In order to ensure the learning environment in all educational institutions of Bangladesh including Dhaka University, the presence of law and order forces must be withdrawn.

-Highest justice must be ensured by investigating the involvement of all individuals and organizations involved in the unpleasant incidents in the quota movement.

-Eligible employment opportunities should be created for students after graduation.
