Comoé/Tabaski 2023: Muslims prayed for peace and security

Banfora, June 28, 2023 (AIB)- The Muslim faithful of Banfora, like other towns in Burkina Faso celebrated on Wednesday June 28 from 2 to 23, the feast of Eid El Kebir, called Tabaski or the feast of sheep, during which they prayed for peace and security in the country.

Muslim worshipers in Banfora stormed places of prayer on Wednesday, June 28, 2023, the feast day of Tabaski.

As usual, it was the Place de la Nation that hosted the prayer led by the Grand Imam of the mosque of Banfora, capital of the province of Comoé, Ahmad Sanogo.

To this end, the Muslim faithful prayed for peace and security in Burkina Faso.

For them, this feast of Tabaski is marked by the immolation of a ram symbolizing the acceptance and obedience of Abraham to slaughter his only son Ishmael on the order of God.

The Grand Imam, Ahmad Sanogo in his sermon urged the faithful to promote peace, sharing, forgiveness and tolerance.

He asked Allah to extend his hand over the country so that peace would return. El hajj, Ahmad Sanogo recalled that the Tabaski festival takes place in a context of insecurity.

As usual, the Muslim faithful had by their side the administrative authorities of the region, the Federation of Evangelical Churches and Missions (FEME) of Comoé and the Catholic Church.

At the end of the prayer and the sermon, before the faithful Muslims returned to their homes, the Grand Imam of the Banfora mosque sacrificed a white ram as a sacrifice of Abraham.

While wishing a happy Tabaski feast to the entire Muslim community of Banfora, the governor of the cascades region, Colonel Jean Charles Yenapono Somé said that he had come to commune with the Muslims on this blessed day.

Mr. Somé also wished a good rainy season in the country so that the harvests are good for the happiness of the populations.

“To live together we must always forgive each other and accept our differences,” he added.
