Companies from various sectors are preparing to release their employees so they can watch the matches of the Brazilian women’s soccer team in the World Cup, which starts this Thursday, July 20, in Australia and New Zealand. Although it is not mandatory, according to the employers, the objective of the initiative is to promote diversity and add value to the event, following the model adopted in the men’s tournament. The competition will run until the 20th of next month.

At the Bimbo bakery group —owner of the Pullman, Plusvita, Rap10 and Ana Maria brands—, all employees will be free to watch the matches of the Brazilian team. Work on the production lines and distribution centers will gradually adjust during the games, and employees in the administrative area will have breaks during the workday. “Currently, the company has around 21% of women globally and, specifically in leadership positions, it already exceeds 25%. We are promoting more and more initiatives that accelerate this process,” said Mário Escotero, vice president of People Management.

The Boticário group will also have a different schedule on the days of the women’s team games. Those who work in the face-to-face modality will have a specially equipped structure in the cafeterias or auditoriums, according to the match schedules; those working in hybrid or remote mode will start work one hour after games or be released one hour before the game. According to the company, 60% of the workforce is made up of women, who also occupy 40% of management positions.
